Long story short they think the blacken toes one gets at times during running can caused by a number of things but one of the causes can be the sock but specifically the wrong size or even right size sock. The article suggests one pull up on the sock at the toes to provide some room in the sock for the toes when you put on your runner. This space may reduce the squeezed fit the sock that sometimes occurs which may reduce the forces on the end of the toes when one slides forward,
It’s worth a try to put a bit of space in your sock at the toes to see if that helps. I’ll try it and if anyone tries it let me know how it works or does not work.
